Welcome to my website, ShaunKing.net. I hope you enjoy reading about my football career, off-season schedule and most importantly, the Shaun King Foundation.
2005 has been a busy year for me. In January, I had the honor of being appointed to the Board of Directors of the African American Education Alliance and served as Master of Ceremonies at their annual Educational Awards Banquet in Orlando , Florida with Governor Jeb Bush.
As a Board Member of Volunteer Florida, the Governor's commission on volunteerism and community service, I traveled to Naples in March and attended the Family Literacy Initiative Annual Celebration hosted by President George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush.
The King's Kids trip to Washington , D.C. in July was the highlight of my summer. Seventeen students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast accompanied me on an educational field trip to our national's capital. It was a great experience to see the city through their eyes and watch them visit the monuments they had been learning about for four months prior to the trip.
In October I was invited by my colleague Malcolm Taaffe of Morgan Stanley to attend the United Nations Global Leadership Award Dinner in New York . Angelina Jolie received the Global Humanitarian Action Award. I had the opportunity to meet NBC News Anchor Ann Curry and learn more about the United Nations education programs including Global Classroom and the Model UN. These programs will be part of the 2006 King's Kids program when the students study about international government and plan their trip to New York City to tour the United Nations.
Right now and I am living in Tampa , spending time with my family and working on the 2006 plans for my Foundation. I have been invited to work out with several teams and hope to have the opportunity to play in the NFL again this season or in 2006.
