Pro Career: Five-year veteran with Tampa Bay (1999–2003) signed x-year contract with Arizona on March 6, 2004 … owns 14–8 record as starter and guided Buccaneers to NFC Championship Game following 1999 season … also member of Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl XXXVII championship team … originally selected by Tampa Bay in second round (50th overall, sixth quarterback chosen) of 1999 NFL Draft … has combined for 31 touchdowns (26 passing, 5 rushing) in 31 career appearances … has completed 368 of 654 passes (56.3 percent) for 4,064 yards with 26 touchdowns, 20 interceptions, and 75.4 passer rating … also gained 424 yards and five touchdowns on 104 rushing attempts … as NFL rookie in 1999, led Tampa Bay to 4–1 record in the final five weeks of the regular season and eventual appearance in conference title game … became just the sixth rookie quarterback to start a playoff game since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger and one of just two rookies (Pat Haden, 1976) to win a playoff contest.

2003 (Tampa Bay): Appeared in three games, all as reserve … completed 15 of 22 pass attempts for 130 yards (68.2 percent) with one touchdown and one interception … also four rushing attempts for 20 yards … fourth-quarter appearance at Atlanta (Sept. 21) … entered game at San Francisco (Oct. 19) in relief of quarterback Brad Johnson during final series … completed four of seven passes for 24 yards … came off bench midway through third quarter at Tennessee (Dec. 28) and connected on 11 of 15 pass attempts for 106 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

2002 (Tampa Bay): Inactive third quarterback for nine of 16 regular-season games, all three post-season contests … appeared in three games with one starting role and completed 10 of 27 pass attempts for 80 yards and one interception … also rushed four times for 25 yards … entered game at Carolina (Oct. 27) in relief of injured Rob Johnson for just one play, but made it count with seven-yard completion to set up game-winning 47-yard field goal with five seconds remaining … late action vs. Atlanta (Dec. 6) with one rushing attempt for two yards … started vs. Pittsburgh (Dec. 23) and completed nine of 23 attempts for 73 yards and one interception … also rushed for 23 yards on three attempts.

2001 (Tampa Bay): Played in three games and completed 21 of 31 passes for 210 yards with one interception … also minus 12 yards on five rushing attempts … first action of season in fourth quarter vs. Minnesota (Oct. 28), completing two of three passes for 62 yards … brief appearance vs. New Orleans with two-point conversion run … saw most extensive action of season vs. Philadelphia (Jan. 6) with 19 pass completions in 28 attempts for 148 yards … did not play in post-season loss at Philadelphia (Jan. 12).


2000 (Tampa Bay):
Started all 16 regular-season games and one playoff contest … tied club record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with five (Steve Young, 1986) … completed 233 of 428 passes (54.4 percent) for 2,769 yards with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for 75.8 passer rating … completed 12 of 24 passes to eight receivers for 167 yards and one touchdown in season-opening win at New England (Sept. 3) … threw scoring strikes of 58 yards to Jacquez Green and 13 yards to Keyshawn Johnson vs. Chicago (Sept. 10) … ran six yards for one touchdown and found lineman-eligible Randall McDaniel for a two-yard touchdown play in win at Detroit (Sept. 17) on 18-of-30 effort for 211 yards … nearly helped force overtime at Washington (Oct. 1), leading Bucs back from 10-point deficit in final three minutes of regulation … one of his 19 pass completions (38 attempts) was a 46-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Reidel Anthony after he recovered his own fumble and regrouped to make the play … set career single-game best completion mark at Minnesota (Oct. 9) when he connected on 26 of 40 passes for 295 yards … also ran for 11-yard score in first quarter vs. Vikings … in return matchup with Minnesota (Oct. 29), tossed career-best four touchdown passes while completing 16 of 23 pass attempts for 267 yards … though he completed just 11 passes (25 attempts) at Atlanta (Nov. 5), three were good for scoring tosses of one-yard to tight end David Moore and five- and 26 yards to wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson in 27–14 win … scoring connections with Johnson (five yards) and Anthony (19 yards) vs. Green Bay (Nov. 12) highlighted a 16-of-27 outing for 164 yards in xx-xx victory … the following week vs. Chicago (Nov. 19), totalled career-best 72 rushing yards on 11 attempts with a nine-yard scoring run … completed 10 of 18 passes for 106 yards and dove for a two-yard scoring run vs. Buffalo (Nov. 26) … despite tropical storm conditions vs. Miami (Dec. 10) threaded 11 of 15 passes for 147 yards … rose to the occasion before a national television audience in Monday night encounter with St. Louis (Dec. 18) … completed 18 of 38 passes for 256 and touchdown tosses of eight and 17 yards in 38–35 victory … authored memorable play with 1:16 remaining in game when he scampered for six-yards and a first down on fourth-and-four situation to keep alive a 10-play, 80-yard drive for the game-winning score … finished game with 58 yards on seven rushing attempts … completed 21 of season-high 42 passes for 237 yards and an 18-yard touchdown to Johnson at Green Bay (Dec. 24).

1999 (Tampa Bay): Started final five games of season and both playoff contests in impressive rookie showing … completed 89 of 146 pass attempts (61 percent) for 875 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions for 82.4 passer rating … inactive third quarterback for first seven games of season …came off bench for injured starter Trent Dilfer at Seattle (Nov. 28) and completed three of seven passes for 32 yards and a touchdown in 16–3 victory … first career NFL completion was six-yard toss to Jacquez Green and sealed the win with a two-yard scoring toss to tight end Patrick Hape in fourth quarter … made pro starting debut in Monday Night matchup vs. Minnesota (Dec. 6) featuring both teams with 7–4 records … threaded 11 of 19 passes for 93 yards and two second-half touchdown passes in 24–17 victory … first scoring toss was 29-yard connection with Green to give Bucs 17–14 lead … later found tight end Dave Moore in end zone from one yard out to push advantage to 24–14 … followed with 23 completions in 37 attempts for 297 yards and two touchdowns in 23–16 win vs. Detroit (Dec. 12) to give Tampa Bay sole possession of first place in division … rallied club from deficits of 10–0 and 16–9 … connected with running back Warrick Dunn for 68-yard catch-and-run to set up three-yard scoring pass to fullback Kevin McLeod at end of first half … found Anthony for 30-yard gain to sustain game-tying drive, then hit fullback Mike Alstott on 22-yard scoring strike for the game-winning points … passed for 133 yards on 17-of-30 showing with one touchdown in 29–10 win over Green Bay (Dec. 26) … concluded regular-season at Chicago (Jan. 2) with 18 completions in 24 attempts for 178 yards and a touchdown in xx-xx win to clinch the division … seven touchdown passes for the season tied prior club rookie mark of Doug Williams in 1978 … became first rookie quarterback to start an NFL playoff game in eight years (Oakland’s Todd Marinovich, Dec. 28, 1991 vs. Kansas City) when he opened under center in divisional playoff outing vs. Washington (Jan. 15) … completed 15 of 32 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown with one interception in 14–13 victory …15 completions was franchise post-season single-game record … rallied club from 13–0 deficit in third quarter, capped by a one-yard scoring toss to tight end John Davis … became first rookie quarterback to win a playoff game since the L.A.
